Khutwa is a charity group that was founded in 2014 with the aim of giving back to its community through three main pillars: Self-sustainability, Welfare and Recreation. Khutwa focuses its efforts on empowering Bahrainis to become more self-sufficient, help less fortunate families meet their basic human needs and spread some joy through its recreational activities.
Khutwa falls under the wing of Bahrain Trust Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded in 2010 which aims to make a difference in people’s lives through education, health and economic empowerment and aiding individuals to reach their full potential.
Our mission is to create smart and practical solutions that secure a better life for people living in long-term crisis and those that do not have access to adequate standards of living.
Our vision is to provide individuals in need with a supportive ecosystem and tools to allow them to change their lives for the better.
We believe that the best way to help families in need is by making them self-sufficient. We have created a program called “ido” tailored to achieve this goal. ido focuses on nurturing participants’ passion and assisting them in developing the necessary skills to turn this passion into a profit. We are proud to say that we have successfully hosted a number of workshops with the likes of Jaan Balushi and Mai Al-Moaayed who have supported this program and assisted our participants into developing their skills further.
While our ‘ido’ program supports the individual to become more self-sufficient, we have come to realize that families need more regular support to get on their feet. Our welfare program was developed to achieve that. What started as a Ramadhan project, where we distributed vouchers and boxes to support families get the basic items for the holy month, turned into a year-long program where we continuously seek to support not only families but also communities through renovation of mosques, homes and more. This program focuses on listening to the needs to the families and surrounding community and making sure we deliver.
Recreation is something that is commonly overlooked. Everyone needs to relive stress sometimes! Our recreation program focuses on developing events that aim to spread joy and create an environment of happiness in people’s lives. Since 2015, we have worked with different charities and have been able to celebrate with them different occasions including gerga’oon, Bahrain National Day, Eid and more.
